Prep really is so important when it comes to tanning and an area of beauty care that really gets overlooked. This can result in streaks and uneven fading in color. Put in the effort before your tan and you’ll reap the rewards during your self-tan's lifecycle.
How to prep before a fake tan
Exfoliate everywhere you want to tan
No one goes into a fake tanning sesh wanting an uneven finish. So minimize your chances by exfoliating the night before with good scrub .This will remove dead skin cells and make for a super-smooth base.
Remove any unwanted hair the day before
Make sure you defuzz at least a day before you want to apply your fake tan. These methods can take off the top layer of skin cells, so if you do just before tanning it may have patchy side effects.
Moisturise dry areas
To keep the drier areas from going patchy, make sure problem areas such as elbows, knees and hands. Try to leave the moisturizer to sink in for at least an hour before applying fake tan. Only apply moisturizer to dry areas.
Showering before you tan
If you shower just before your tan application, blast your skin with cold water before you get out, it will shrink all of your pores and therefore reduce the chance of them getting blocked.
The best way to apply fake tan
Now that all the prep is done and your body is a blank canvas its time to apply your tan. Choose one of our luxurious shades Sunkissed , Golden or Bronze and away you go.
Step1: Prepare your mitt - Pump 2 pumps of the Mousse onto your mitt we recommend a clean fresh velvet mitt , to spread the product out evenly on the mitt, scrunch your hand up into a fist.
Step 2: Apply in circular motions - Focusing on one body part at a time, apply the fake tan in circular motions – making sure you reach every inch. A common mistake is to miss out the inner parts of the body so make sure you apply your product to all areas. This will avoid patches.
Build up the color so that it’s even and rubbed in properly and buff out any overlapping parts. Our mousse has a color guide which will help ease application.
If you’re applying our Instant Bronze Babe , you need to work very quickly to get an even coating of tan. And if you need to buff any noticeable streaks then use a kabuki brush to blend it out.
Two coats to the body top to bottom and one coat for the face.
Step 3: Leave to dry - Drying times vary on the shade . If you are applying Sunkissed and Golden we advise waiting 15 mins until you can get dressed and letting develop for 8 hours before rinsing the body. Our Bronze is express and you can get dressed and wear out immediately this can be rinsed after 5 hours.
Step 4: Rinse after 8 hours using warm water ,pat body dry... and Glow Baby Glow. ( repeat step 1-4 for layer 2 if you want a deeper color)
Aftercare & Manintence : To prolong the new glow for longer top up on tinted moisturizer every day, keep your skin moisturised and hydrated. Note that hot showers and baths can dehydrate skin, which leads to faster flaking and peeling. Turn the heat down and switch to cooler showers, to help lock in moisture and color.

Apply fake tan at night -Not only will applying your gradual tan at night give it more time to develop, but it also means you’ll have less chances of smudging it.
