The Founder’s Journal

By Kimberly Brophy, Founder of Naked Glow

When I launched Naked Glow in January 2021, I wanted to create a beauty brand that felt luxurious but remained accessible. Products you would enjoy using, feel proud to have on your bathroom shelf and come back to because they fitted into your everyday life.

My journey into business began before Naked Glow, with my clothing brand, Love Kimberly. That experience gave me a foundation in building a brand, listening to customers and understanding how much the small details matter.

With Naked Glow, I brought that same attention to beauty.

From the beginning, I wanted the brand to have a clear identity: an Irish, woman-led business offering fragrance-free, vegan and cruelty-free self-tan and skincare, with sensitive skin in mind.

When we introduced skincare in 2023, it was an opportunity to build on that vision. I wanted products that made sense together and helped customers create a routine they could actually maintain.

As a founder, there are so many decisions behind every product. The formula, packaging, price and instructions all contribute to the experience. A beautiful bottle matters, but so does understanding what is inside it and how to use it.

Seeing Naked Glow reach customers through Arnotts and Dunnes Stores has been a proud part of the journey. But the moments that mean the most are often much smaller: someone recommending a product to a friend or telling us it has become part of their morning routine.

That is what I want to keep building—a brand that earns its place in people’s lives, one product at a time.
